The new LMDE6 at first glance is smooth, appealing and boots to the desktop pretty quick.
My fresh installation took maybe 12 minutes if that. The installer was easy to use and the response time was quick setting up the time zone, keyboard layout, user name and password. Once the target drive was selected the installer proceeded with the installation. When the installation was complete the installer prompted to remove the installation media before the reboot.
The Main Menu and Desktop are done well and clear to read.
Here, in this screenshot the background is set to "Smoke".
There are 5 selections available for the Desktop Background. Finding one you'll like won't be difficult at all. You can pick from the Linux Mint styles, Vanessa, Vera, Victoria version styles and your Pictures directory if you so choose.
The Software Manager is easily found from the Main Menu. Lot's of applications for all sorts of needs, hobbies and etc.
If your looking for something and it's not in the Software Manager have a look in Synaptic Package Manager. Here, I used the Search to find gtk.
The Update Manager icon is in the lower right hand corner of the system tray.
The Monitor Settings are pretty easy to change and are found from the Main Menu.
The Calendar looks clean and editing any date or event is simple.
The Settings Manager is where all the tweaking and customization takes place with your liking in mind. Here you can select themes, adjust the date and time, set up hot corners and all kinds of effects.
Libre Office Writer get's the job done when it comes to writing letters for your business or anything that needs organization and good format.
In this screenshot I've changed the document's background color.
Here, I've typed out LMDE6 to show how well Libre Office Writer looks.
Gimp version 2.10.34 looks good and well, I use it all the time. It's great for a lot of things.
With Gimp you can practice painting till you create the design you want and like.
The image viewer works well and has other settings that you can adjust. It's easier to launch for something quick that has to be flipped or copied.
Firefox 119.0.1 worked right out of the box and runs very well.
The Linux developers that designed and created this distribution out-did themselves I think, on this one! Amazing work!
This distribution boot's to the desktop from the Grub Menu on my triple booted system in 5 seconds!
Love it!
Enjoy your Linux and the holidays!
