Voyager 11 Debian Bullseye LTS

I ran Voyager on my desktop about 5 years ago when it was based on Xubuntu.

It ran very well, was easy to install and keeping it up-to-date was of ease.

Voyager 11 is now based on Debian and it is exceptionally well done and looks good.

It comes with Gnome and is a LTS release: supported until 2026!

The french developer and creator Rodolphe Bachelart did a fantastic job on this distriubtion!

There are other version of Voyager that are Gnome and XFCE too. The main page is here:

The installation took about 15-20 minutes and upon reboot I went right to work and updated the system. Here's a screenshot of the Software Manager.

Voyager 11 Debian Bullseye run's very well on my 10 year old Sony Vaio. I had one hick-cup with suspend. Upon waking the system up by moving the mouse, the keyboard was unresponsive. I quickly remedied that by turning off suspend in the Power setting.

There are a variety of wallpapers for the desktop that comes with the system. You can add your own as I have in the second screenshot. Wallpaper Flare (wallpaperflare.com) is the site I looked for additional wallpapers.

The Settings are easy to find in the upper right hand corner of the desktop. The Settings can also be found in the dock by clicking on the 9 dot's at the end of the dock.

Tweaks, if you are familiar with Gnome is where you can control the appearance, sound, power management and other adjustments.

Extensions on the system can be turned on and off.

The Calendar and Notes program are well designed too.

You can change the color of the Notes program to your liking by clicking on the three dots at the top of the notes program.

The Home directory looks smooth and clean. To make more adjustments, click on the three lines in the upper right hand corner and select Preferences.

The developer placed 2 files in the Home directory titled "Voyager.pdf" and "Voyager install". The pdf has link's that take you right to the site for the developers notes and instructions. The install file contains notes that the developer included so the user can follow instructions if the install doesn't go correctly.

Firefox ESR worked right out of the box, no issues. Adding themes and plugin's to the browser was a breeze!

This is Firefox 102.11.0 :-

There's a good amount of games as well that come with Voyager.

Here's Four In A Row:

The game of Chess--

The game of Sudoku--

And here's a screenshot of the game Mahjongg--

The developer makes it clear to be careful as Voyager 11 is not for beginners coming to Linux for the first time. I read everything on the page thoroughly before I installed Voyager 11 and I encourage you to read it as well. See the link after the end of the next sentence.

It's a good practice to know what the installer and the developer has said you on that page before you begin the installation process. The more you know before the install the better prepared you will be should a issue occur.

Don't forget to check the integrity of your .iso! The md5sum's are on the page I linked above.

It's been approximately 5 hours since I performed my fresh installation and I can't seem to shut the laptop down. I'm truly very pleased and can't say thank you enough to Mr. Rodolphe Bachelart for the amazing work, time, effort and development of this Linux distribution: Voyager 11 Debian Bullseye!

Enjoy your Linux, drive safe and have a great week ahead.
