My First Encounter With Linux
I still remember the first day I tried Linux on my computer and it was really impressive and cool.
Heck, I didn't even know back than what a USB stick was much less how to install Linux from a USB stick.
A friend of mine installed Linux Ubuntu on my computer along side Windows XP.
My system was in a dual boot and had no clue what that meant either.
All I knew was when my computer booted I had a choice between booting into Linux or Windows.
After a week of using Ubuntu I was hooked on Linux! 🙂
Tips & Tricks
There are a ton of Tips & Tricks for Linux.
As an example you can install a program called "Grub Customizer".
Grub Customizer is a UI tool to make changes to your bootloader and you can
add any picture of your choice to spice things up.
Below is a picture of how your Grub bootloader could look depending on the
picture you select.
Introduce Yourself
Thirteen years ago I was so tired of Windows XP taking so long to update I had to find an alternative.
A friend of mine downloaded Ubuntu Linux 10.04 and read the instructions on how to install Ubuntu from a USB thumb drive.
The next thing I knew I was running Ubuntu and Windows in a dual boot on my desktop and was really enjoying my new Linux operating system.
Since than I have not returned to Windows and have been able to find and use programs that were similar to Windows programs.
After 10 years of being in one of my online Linux groups I became a Linux Guru.
The truth is Linux does require a commitment. I had to invest time studying and helping folks fix their operating systems. Every time I helped someone else I learned more about Linux.
